Everything you need to know

I ordered the Hero Smart Dispenser and the Hero Health Membership. The ordering process on their website was straightforward enough, though I had to hunt a bit for the FSA eligibility info. Delivery took 6 days to reach me in California, which was within their estimated window. Packaging was secure. Setting up the dispenser itself was pretty intuitive with the guided steps. The Hero App connects easily and the Caregiver Notifications are very helpful. I had one question about the Medication History Reports and their support team answered my email within a day. Quality of the dispenser seems solid, feels durable. My only minor gripe is the monthly subscription cost adds up, but for the peace of mind with medication adherence tracking, it feels worth it.

Consistent service, as always

Another great experience with Hero Health. This was my third time using their service for a family member, and the Hero Smart Dispenser arrived exactly when promised. Setup was smooth, just like last time. It's why I keep coming back; no surprises, and the Medication Management Service works reliably.

Great value with annual plan

I was looking for the best deal and opted for the annual plan savings on the Hero Health Membership, which really cut down the overall cost compared to monthly. It made the initial investment in the Hero Smart Dispenser feel much more manageable. I also checked if it was HSA eligible, which it was, saving me more. For a first-time buyer, it felt like a solid value proposition considering what the Medication Management Service provides. Worth the cost for sure.

Good system, small app issue

The Hero Smart Dispenser and accompanying Medication Management Service have been a real help for managing my father's pills. Delivery was on time, and getting it set up was fairly easy. The Automatic Pill Dispenser itself is well-designed and dispenses accurately. However, the Hero App occasionally lags a bit when trying to view the Medication Adherence Tracking, requiring a refresh. It's not a deal-breaker, but it could be smoother. Customer service was responsive when I called about a different feature. Overall, it's a valuable service, just wish the app was a little more polished.

hey, was looking at the Hero dispenser. does it really handle all kinds of pills? like some of my meds are pretty small, others are bigger capsules.

M Marcus 2 months ago
Yeah, I have a mix of sizes and it seems to manage fine. My mom's got some huge horse pills and tiny ones, no issues so far.

They say it works with most standard sizes. I'd check their site for exact dimensions if you have anything super unusual, but for regular stuff, it's usually good.

What's the deal with canceling the membership? Is it a pain, or can you just stop if it's not working out?

L Lisa C. 2 months ago
It's pretty straightforward. You just give notice, and they help you out. No crazy cancellation fees or anything. I looked into it when I was first signing up.

I canceled for a few months when my dad was in rehab and then reactivated without any hassle. Just call them up.

Is there usually a way to try this out without paying the full initiation fee right away? Like a first month free deal or something?

M Marcus 2 months ago
Yeah, sometimes they do offer the first month free or a discount on the initiation fee. I got a discount code from a referral link when I signed up.

Keep an eye out, especially around holidays like November/December. They often have deals then. I think I saw a first month free offer last winter.

How many different meds can this thing actually hold? My mom takes like 10 different pills throughout the day.

M Megan 2 months ago
It holds up to 10 different medications. So if she has exactly 10, it'll be maxed out but should work. More than that and you'd be out of luck.

I think it's 10. Check their product specs page, they usually list it there clearly.

Can I actually use my HSA or FSA card to pay for this? That would make it way easier.

A Alex E. 1 month ago
Definitely. It's an eligible expense for both HSA and FSA. I paid for mine with my FSA card no problem.

Yeah, pretty sure it counts. It's a medical device, so it usually qualifies.
